Cholesterol – The Silent Killer

Cancer aside, coronary disease is the other main cause of mortality. Not surprisingly, the 3 biggest major illness claims for insurance arises from Cancer, Heart Attack and Stroke. An unhealthy cholesterol level will lead to a higher chance of the 2 latter ones.

I have procrastinated my health check for quite some time. My last was in 2008 when I was getting married, and finally end 2014 to get one thing off the checklist. Fortunately, or unfortunately, an early sign propped up. My LDL slightly exceed the recommended range.

The truth is always hard to accept. My BMI is 20.4 and I exercise quite regularly. Generally, my level of fitness relatively high. However that’s only one aspect of it. Looking back, though I don’t indulge in fattening, oily and unhealthy food frequently (occasionally), one unhealthy habit I have on a daily basis for the past few year was my favorite drink, Kopi-C Siu Dai. I kind of alway knew evaporated milk is not so healthy, but for my pleasure, I always choose to ignore it.

So what can be done better? Since the start of the year, I have cut done evaporate milk dramatically. Almost zero nowadays. Once in a while I will fall prey to temptations. Will continue to monitor and hopefully if I decided to do a check up again end 2015, my level will be back to a good level.

Everything starts with a habit. Which is a difficult thing to change. So don’t try too many things at a time. Just make one change at a time and do it for 21 days, it will become a habit.

PS: Already had proper water intake for the past 7 days! Preserve.
